When we were asked to create a family home for a client in North London, central to the brief was to update the dated, tired interiors, renovate the dark, dingy basement and transform the property into a striking home.  This required a major basement refurbishment transforming the space into an ‘all singing all dancing’ entertaining space with a custom designed and hand-made kitchen. Our client is a convivial host and wanted to entertain in the new space. Our brief was very open but with a specific request to design the complete antithesis of a white, glossy kitchen. We also cosmetically overhauled the remaining two reception rooms, two bathrooms and four double bedrooms.

"Mel was clear from the beginning that she would meet the brief but she would challenge too.  She absolutely delivered on both.  A friend who came round described it as “feeling like a gentleman’s club”.  This was the brief.  But it has lighting and a contemporary feel that you would never find there.  This was Mel’s ‘challenge’.  Mel delivered a house every bit as good as I had hoped for.  But, most gratifyingly, Mel delivered a better house too.”
